Soaring: The sport and art of sustained, unpowered flight
For more than 45 years, The Cleveland Soaring Society has promoted soaring in Northeastern Ohio. The society is a private club with a current membership of about twenty soaring enthusiasts. It operates out of Geauga County airport (7G8), located in Middlefield, Ohio and is central to the cities of Cleveland, Akron and Youngstown.
The club owns four gliders, one tow plane and is home base for an additional seven privately owned gliders. Instruction is available for club members. The club currently flies on Wednesdays and weekends, weather permitting.
Although the Soaring Society is a private club, the public is always welcome and we offer introductory glider flights to the general public. So, whether you are thinking about joining a club, are interested in experiencing the freedom of soaring flight for the first time or just want to check out our operations, please stop by and visit us.
